Holiday Party - Aurora HDR - iMovie - Mac Security
Happy Holidays NJMUG

Once again the holiday season is upon us, and that can only mean one thing...NJMUG will be holding its annual holiday meeting and party where we'll eat, drink, mingle, share, problem solve and just have our usual great time! And we'll have some goodies to raffle off to those of you who have been good little boys and girls this year!

Plus, this month we'll feature the following presentations:

Bruce Mittelman will give a demonstration of the Aurora HDR photo software by Macphun. Aurora HDR offers a completely new photo editing experience by incorporating smarter, faster and more powerful HDR tools in a simple to use interface.

George Ajjan will give a short tutorial on using the latest version of the iMovie application for browsing, editing, and sharing your clips and movies.

Bob Helmond will give another installment of his Macintosh security segment where he discusses all the latest and relevant news on Macintosh and computer security.

Apple TV 4 - iPad Pro - Macintosh Basics - Galaxy S6 vs. iPhone 6 Shootout

Bruce Mittelman will give a live demonstration of the Apple TV 4. The new Apple TV delivers an all-new experience with a touch enabled remote, Siri, powerful new hardware, and great content, games, and more on the App Store.

Bruce will also give a demonstration of the iPad Pro, Apple's new 12.9-inch addition to the iPad line.

Jerry Glacken will give another installment of his Macintosh Basics presentations. This month he'll focus on the Mac OS X directory structure and the Finder.

Louis Perez will conduct a smartphone shootout between the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Apple iPhone 6S. If you're in the market for a new phone, you won't want to miss this overview of all of the pluses and minuses for these models.

Bruce Mittelman will give a live demonstration of Apple's newest computer OS, OS X 10.11 El Capitan. OS X El Capitan brings lots of useful enhancements for your Mac. From new ways to manage multiple windows and spaces, a more powerful Spotlight, refinements to essential apps like Photos, Safari, Mail, and Maps, a new Notes app, as well as faster performance across the board, come see why you'll want to upgrade to this new OS.

Bruce will also give a demonstration of the NewTrent Airbender 3.0 bluetooth keyboard for the iPad.

Bob Helmond will show you how to calibrate your monitor using the Displays System Preferences Pane and the Datacolor Spyder 5. The Spyder 5 is a simple to use color calibration device that enables you to easily calibrate monitors for accurate on screen colors and better print matching.

Catherine Mascis will give a demonstration of the iHealth Glucometer. The iHealth Align glucometer is the world's smallest, most portable mobile glucometer. It plusgs directly into your smartphone's headphone jack and displays your results instantly on the phone screen.

Apple Music - Portrait Pro - Picture Perfect 9.5

Louis Perez will give a in-depth overview of Apple Music, the new music service that allows you to stream music to your device on demand. In addition to the 30 million song library, Apple Music also includes Apple Music Radio, a 24 hour service featuring many genre based stations.

Bob Helmond will give a demonstration of PortraitPro, a revolutionary application that allows you quickly touch-up and improve your photos just by moving sliders.

Bruce Mittelman will give a demonstration of Perfect Photo Suite 9.5, a suite of seven powerful tools for solving the most common problems faced by photographers.

Apple Photos vs. Google Photos - RAID - Hard Drives & Maintenance Software - Recent Mac Malware

We'll have an in-depth comparison of Apple Photos vs. Google Photos. Bruce Mittelman and George Ajjan will demonstrate both applications and services and talk about their similarities, differences, and everything else you need to know about hosting your photos in the cloud.

Bob Helmond will give a demonstration of how to set up a RAID on your Mac computer. A RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is two or more drives configured to share or duplicate data. Come learn how using RAID can protect your data as well as increase system performance through improved read and write times.

Louis Perez will give a discussion on the best hard drives for various use cases and the maintenance software you need to know about to keep your hard drives functioning correctly.

Jerry Glacken will give a quick overview of the latest OS X vulnerabilities, namely the DYLD_PRINT_TO_FILE privilege escalation vulnerability and the Thunderstrike 2 firware worm.

Terminal Tips & Tricks - Keyboard Techniques - Creating Greeting Cards with Pages

Jerry Glacken will give a presentation on Terminal Tips & Tricks. The Terminal is an exceptionally powerful tool that provides a command line interface to the inner workings of Mac OS X. This discussion will provide you with a collection of tricks that are an invaluable addition to any Mac user's tool chest.

Catherine Macis will give a talk on proper keyboard techniques and how you can improve your keyboard skill set. Proper techniques not only help develop your skills also help prevent the development of repetitive stress injuries.

Agnek Drake Idyk will give a demonstration on using Apple Pages to easily create custom greeting cards for any occasion.
