Paper by Fiftythree App - Evernote - Doc Scan HD Pro - 123D Catch

Would you like to learn how you can organize your documents, photos, notes, Web page archives, etc. in a central location that can be accessed from anywhere? Or maybe you're interested in unleashing your artistic side and use your iPad to sketch and create drawings and artwork? Or how about using your iOS device to quickly scan documents on-the-go? If so, then you're in luck as we'll be covering these topics and more at this month's general meeting!

Jen Bissu will be giving a demonstration of the Paper by Fiftythree App for the iPad. Paper by Fiftythree allows you to capture your ideas as sketches, diagrams, illustrations, notes, or drawings and easily share them across the Web.

Next, Jerry Glacken will be giving a presentation on Evernote, the note taking, organization and archiving application that runs on several platforms including desktop, mobile, tablet and the Web. Evernote allows users to save and sync notes, full webpages, webpage clips, files, images and more across all of their devices.

Our next presenter of the evening will be Bruce Mittelman who will show you how you can use your iPhone or iPad to easily scan, store and send documents on-the-go using the revolutionary Doc Scan HD Pro app. Bruce will also give a brief demonstration of 123D Catch, the app which allows you to turn your photos into amazing 3D models.

To finish up, we'll end the meeting with a few informational topics. Jerry Gherardi will give a short talk on how you can save money by purchasing your wines online. And Louis Perez returns with his ever popular "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web" which presents a plethora of interesting Web sites pertaining to a central topic. This month's tour will focus on the "Bucket List" - Web sites you need to visit before you die!

LittleSnitch - Best Security Practices - iOS Photo Editing Apps
May Meeting

With the recent news of the Flashback trojan reportedly infecting more than half a million Mac computers, this month we will present a few topics to help our members secure their Macs and protect themselves from security breaches.

Bob Helmond will be giving a in-depth demonstration of Little Snitch, the software appplication that alerts you anytime there is an outgoing network connection and allows you to block any unwanted connection attempts. This software is so good at what it does, the recent Flashback trojan installer actually was programmed to check to see if Little Snitch was installed on the target machine, and if so, it aborted any attempt to infect that machine.

Next, Jerry Glacken will be giving an overview of best security practices that Macintosh users can employ to better secure their machines and avoid potential infections, unauthorized data access, as well as protect their privacy and security online.

After we get all those serious security topics out of the way, we're going to transition to some fun things you can do with your iPhone or iPad. Bruce Mittelman will be demonstrating five iOS Apps which allow you to quickly and easily edit your photos in a variety of interesting ways.

Quicklook Plugins - AirServer - Annual NJMUG Elections - and More!

This month, Bruce Mittelman will give an overview of Quicklook plugins. Quicklook is a great feature of OS X, allowing you to press the spacebar when a file is selected in Finder and quickly look at the contents. As great as this is, there are a few occasions where it would be useful to quicklook a file that is not supported by default. Luckily, Quicklook is extendable with plugins and Bruce will show the best plugins available as well as how to install them.

Bruce Mittelman will also be giving a demonstration of AirServer, the most advanced AirPlay/AirTunes receiver app on the market. AirServer allows you to stream audio, videos, and photos to your Mac or iOS device.

Our next presenter of the evening, will be Louis Perez, who will be giving another installment of his "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web", which presents a collection of popular Web sites focusing on a particular topic. This month's topic will focus on "How to Buy a Television Set".

Our final presenter of the evening will be Jen Bissu with her monthly installment of "3 Things You Should Know." which offers tips, tricks, and news every Apple user needs to know.

Please note: We will be conducting our annual NJMUG Trustees and Officers election at 8:00pm sharp. Any person whose dues were current as of March 22, 2012 will be elegible to vote in the election. Also, any NJMUG member not currently on the ballot and who wishes to run in the election, can announce their candidacy during the meeting.

Spector Pro | Mac - The New iPad - Burning YouTube Videos to DVD - Web Deals On Glasses

This month, a respresentative from SpectorSoft Corporation will be on hand to give a detailed presentation of their Spector Pro | Mac monitoring software. Spector Pro | Mac is not only the most trusted monitoring software in the world, but is also the most feature rich, while being easy and intuitive to use. Spector Pro | Mac enables you to automatically record screenshots, keystrokes typed, Web sites visited, Email sent/received, Chat/IM activity, Online searches and much much more.

Our second presenter of the evening will be Bruce Mittelman, who will talk about Apple's recently annouced new iPad and how it differs from older versions. Bruce will also show you how to easily capture your favorite YouTube videos and burn them to DVD.

Next up will be Agnes Idyk who will talk about using Address Book with Numbers as well as show a quick tip on how to get back your colored icons in OS X 10.7 Lion.

Our next topic will be presented by Jerry Gherardi who will share tips on using the Web to score great savings and deals on contact lenses and glasses.

Our final presenter of the evening will be Jen Bissu with her monthly installment of "3 Things You Should Know."

Please note that we will also have an important announcement concerning our NJMUG Trustees and Officers election which will be held at our April meeting.

iTunes U - Google Voice - Using Address Book With Numbers - Dessert Web Sites
February Meeting

This month, Scott Alenick will demonstrate Apple's iTunes U, the app that gives you access to the largest digital catalog of free educational content right on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.

Our second presenter of the evening will be Phil Chaiklin, who will give an overview of Google Voice, the Internet based servcie that allows you to forward your phone number to multiple phones, screen phone calls, block phone numbers and apply rules based on the caller. Google Voice will also transcribe voicemail messages and send you and email or text message notifying you about the call.

Our next presenter of the evening, will be Agnes Idyk, who will talk about using Address Book with Numbers.

And finally, Louis Perez returns with another installment of his popular "Magical Mystery Tour of the Web" which presents a collection of Web sites pertaining to a particular topic of interest. This month's tour will focus on Dessert Web sites.

Network Security - Web Browser Plug-ins - Picasa
January Meeting

Come join us as we kick off the new year with another fun-filled and educational monthly meeting! This month, Bob Helmond will give a presentation entitled "Are you paranoid? Or is somebody really hacking your network?". Bob will focus on how to monitor your computer network, using common sense and easy to use tools as well as discuss best practices for ensuring your network remains secure against would be intruders.

Next up, Jerry Glacken and Bruce Mittelman will give an overview of some of the best Web browser plug-ins for the Google Chrome and Apple Safari browsers. Most people use a Web browser every day, yet very few fully harness it's full capabilities. Come learn how the addition of plug-ins allow you to add features and make your browsing experience better and more productive.

Our final presenter of the evening, will be Phil Chaiklin, who will be demonstrating, Picasa the free image organizer which allows you to view, store, edit and share photos.
